Building Analysis

From “Green” consultation to a complete energy audit, HHDCgreen goes beyond a traditional energy analysis to perform a comprehensive, whole-building assessment, identifying problems at the root cause and prescribing and prioritize solutions based on building science.

We evaluate the building characteristic, energy consumption, water consumption, moisture problems,  indoor environmental quality, safety concerns as well as the CO2 emission of the building and your carbon footprint.

We will identify potential areas of improvements to achieve sustainability goals that will save you money, increase property value, safety and comfort.

HHDCgreen performs different building analysis or assessments:

ENERGY AUDIT:

An Energy Audit is an energy analysis designed to pinpoint the areas in your home or building that waste energy. After evaluating the existing conditions and the energy use, the analysis will provide better solutions to save energy recommending cost-effective strategies and implementations based in Building Sciences. We perform the following types of energy audit:

  • Preliminary Energy Use Analysis:

This is the energy audit starting point and the most basic energy analysis. Using the Energy Star Portfolio Manager, we benchmark or compare against similar buildings to gauge energy efficiency.

  • ASHRAE LEVEL 1, Walkthrough Analysis:

This audit requires an interview with the homeowner or building staff, a review of the utility bill and the walk-through of the building to identify energy waste and potential areas for energy savings. Will be provided a report with low-cost/ no-cost energy conservation measurements.

  • ASHRAE Level 2, Energy survey and analysis:

The Level-2 assessment starts with the findings of the Level-1 and analyzed the building energy systems in detail to define a variety of potential energy-efficiency improvements. This should include the insulation, lighting, heating, ventilation, air Conditioning system and water heater and we will use the blower door and infrared camera to find leakage areas. A complete report will be produced detailing energy-saving strategies and the financial analysis of savings and return on the investment.

ANALYSIS OF GREEN BUILDING POTENTIAL:

Is a comprehensive analysis to determine the potential of the standard building to be retrofitted in a GREEN and HEALTHY building. We audit energy and water waste as well as environmental indoor hazards and safety issues. After analyzing existing conditions we will provide a detail report with sustainable recommendations and retrofit strategies to achieve a high-performance building with a healthy indoor environment.

BUILDING RESILIENCE ASSESSMENT:

A large number of homes and existing buildings are no constructed to withstand extreme weather events associated with climate change. We will analyze the local climatic hazards and building vulnerabilities to create a detail report with recommendation and strategies that will mitigate climate-related risks improving safety and resilience.

Home Energy Score

Developed by DOE and its national laboratories, the Home Energy Score provides homeowners, buyers, and renters directly comparable and credible information about a home’s energy use. Like a miles-per-gallon rating for a car, the Home Energy Score is based on a standard assessment of energy-related assets to easily compare energy use across the housing market.

The Home Energy Score Report estimates home energy use, associated costs, and provides energy solutions to cost-effectively improve the home’s efficiency. Each Home Energy Score is shown on a simple one-to-ten scale, where a ten represents the most efficient homes.

If you are buying a home or refinancing your home, there are financing options to help you afford an energy-efficient home or pay for efficiency improvements. Home Energy Score is an accepted energy label to help borrowers qualify for attractive energy-related loan products offered by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac.

Homeowners are typically not well informed about their home’s construction or energy systems. Lacking good information, homeowners miss opportunities to reduce their energy use and associated costs.

As a residential building professional, we can help provide homeowners vital information to keep their homes affordable and comfortable.

By using the U.S. Department of Energy’s Home Energy Score, we can provide our customers with a credible, nationally recognized product that is flexible to
meet your needs.

New financial incentives make the Score attractive for home improvements. Under Fannie Mae’s HomeStyle Energy mortgage loan, borrowers can
finance up to 15% of a home’s “as-completed” appraised value for energy efficiency improvements by receiving a Home Energy Score. Borrowers in this program can also qualify for a stretch on their debt-to-income ratios for homes that score a 6 or higher, or for making improvements to a less efficient home.
